A point that stays black on white, red, green and blue may be a non-illuminating pixel or a group of failed subpixels. Recheck after cleaning the surface.

A point that differs only on red, green or blue may indicate a fault in that color channel rather than the complete pixel.
Lines, clusters, glow, pressure marks and broad nonuniformity are different from one isolated pixel and may require professional inspection.

It displays uniform solid colors across the screen so you can visually inspect for pixels or subpixels that remain dark, bright or the wrong color.
Black, white, red, green and blue are the core inspection colors. Black highlights bright pixels, white highlights dark pixels, and red, green and blue help isolate subpixel faults.
A dead pixel usually remains dark because it does not illuminate. A stuck pixel or subpixel may remain bright or fixed on red, green, blue, white or another color.
No. A web page cannot inspect the physical panel directly. You visually compare the same screen location across several uniform colors.
No. This page is an inspection tool. The separate Dead Pixel Fixer provides a targeted color-cycle attempt for suspected stuck pixels, but hardware defects are not guaranteed to change.

The solid-color method can reveal visible pixel anomalies on many display technologies. The appearance and causes of defects differ by panel type.
A black screen is useful for finding pixels that stay bright, white or colored when the rest of the panel should be dark.
A white screen makes dark pixels, dust, pressure marks and some uniformity problems easier to notice. Clean the surface first so dust is not mistaken for a defect.
Each pixel is formed from color subpixels. Separate red, green and blue screens can reveal a subpixel that fails to illuminate or remains active incorrectly.
Gray levels can make banding, dirty-screen effects, tint variation and uneven brightness easier to see, although those issues are not necessarily individual pixel defects.
A few seconds per color is usually enough for an initial scan. Large or high-resolution displays may need longer so you can inspect every region carefully.
The automatic mode is deliberately limited to slow changes of one second or longer and never starts without a user action. Stop immediately if changing colors cause discomfort.
The tool is designed for inspection rather than rapid flashing. A slower full-screen transition rate reduces unnecessary visual stimulation and gives time to inspect the panel.

When supported and selected, the browser may keep the display awake during an active test. The operating system or browser can still deny or release that request.

Yes. Choose Custom solid color, enter a valid hexadecimal color such as #7f7f7f and start the test.
That pattern can indicate an individual red, green or blue subpixel problem. Recheck the same physical location on black, white and the other primary colors.
Yes. Surface dust, fingerprints and small debris can resemble dark pixels on white backgrounds. Clean the display safely before deciding that a panel defect exists.
It can make those effects visible, especially on black or gray, but it cannot determine the cause or provide a professional measurement.
Solid colors may reveal persistent image retention or burn-in, but the tool does not measure severity and cannot repair panel aging.
Record the color, type and location, take a photograph when useful, then check the manufacturer pixel policy, return period, warranty or repair options.
Warranty rules vary by manufacturer, model, defect type, location and pixel count. Use the report as an inspection note, not as proof of warranty eligibility.
