What does merge similar colors do?

It combines palette entries that are close in perceived color. A low value preserves subtle variations, while a higher value produces a simpler palette with more visibly distinct swatches.

Can transparent pixels be ignored?

Yes. Transparent pixels can be ignored, blended with white or blended with a custom background color before palette analysis.

Can I exclude white or black backgrounds?

Yes. Enable the white or black exclusion options to reduce the influence of near-white paper backgrounds, near-black borders or similar large areas.

Does the tool preserve the original image?

Yes. The source image is only read for preview and color analysis. It is not edited, recompressed or overwritten.

What is a HEX color?

What happens with animated GIF or WebP images?

The browser-decoded frame used by the current session is analyzed. This tool does not create a combined palette across every animation frame.

Does the image leave my device?

Does the tool store my colors or filename?
