HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It stores photos at roughly half the file size of a JPEG at similar quality, but many non-Apple apps, older devices and some websites still cannot open it directly - which is where this converter helps.
On your iPhone, go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency." New photos will then save directly as JPEG. This tool remains useful for existing HEIC photos or ones sent from another Apple device.
