How the fair browser-based wheel selection works

The visual wheel is separated into equal slices, but the winner is selected before the animation starts. The rebuilt engine requests a cryptographically strong pseudorandom 32-bit value from the browser and uses rejection sampling to map it to the number of active entries. The animation then rotates the wheel to the already selected segment.

Equal entry model

Each non-empty row receives one segment and one equal selection slot. Duplicate rows count separately, so repeating a name intentionally increases its combined chance.

Spin-safe editing

Option fields and add/remove controls are temporarily disabled while the wheel is moving. This prevents the visible slices from changing underneath a winner that was selected at the start of the spin.

Repeated winners

The old page-specific Firebase counter and rating writes have been removed. Your names and choices are handled by the page in your browser and are not written to a Random Wheel Spinner database. The latest result and session spin count reset when the page is reloaded.

The tool divides the wheel into equal segments for the non-empty entries you provide. When you spin, it securely selects one entry, animates the wheel to that segment, and displays the winner.

Is each entry given an equal chance?

Yes. Every non-empty row is treated as one equal entry. The rebuilt picker uses browser Web Crypto randomness and rejection sampling so the winner index is selected without simple modulo bias.

What happens to blank option rows?

Blank rows are ignored when the wheel is drawn and when a winner is selected. You need at least two non-empty entries to spin.

Can the same name appear more than once?

Yes. Duplicate text is allowed because each non-empty row is a separate wheel segment. If the same name appears twice, that name effectively has two segments and therefore a larger combined chance.

Can I spin the wheel repeatedly?

Yes. Every completed spin is independent and you can spin again immediately. Winners are not automatically removed.

Does the tool automatically remove the winner?

No. The rebuilt page intentionally keeps the original simple interface. Remove a winner manually if you want the next spin to choose only from the remaining entries.

Does it save my names or choices?

No page-specific database or persistent browser storage is used for your entries. The current entries, result and session spin count exist only on the open page.
