Crop and position every collage photo

Cover the cell

Cover preserves the photo ratio while filling the complete cell. It is the usual choice for edge-to-edge picture collages, but some edges may be cropped.

Contain the complete photo

Contain preserves the full source image and can leave part of the selected collage background visible inside the cell.

Drag the focal position

Select a photo cell in the preview and drag to keep a face, product or important subject inside the visible crop.

Adjust one photo without changing others

Zoom, rotation, flip, opacity, brightness, contrast, saturation and grayscale values are stored separately for each active image.

Photo collage sizes for social media, screens and print

Square collage

The 1080 by 1080 preset creates a balanced square picture grid for general social sharing and profile-style posts.

Portrait collage

The 1080 by 1350 preset provides additional vertical space for feed posts, photo stories and portfolio arrangements.

Story collage

The 1080 by 1920 preset creates a full-height vertical collage for Story and status formats.

Landscape collage

The 1200 by 675 preset is suitable for wide web images, article headers and landscape photo collections.

Presentation collage

The 1920 by 1080 preset fits widescreen slides, monitors and video thumbnails.

Custom and print dimensions

Use the 4 by 6 or A4 presets, swap orientation or enter custom dimensions up to 5000 pixels per side.

PNG, JPG and WebP collage downloads

JPG for photographic collages

JPG usually creates an efficient file for many photographs and supports an adjustable quality level. It requires an opaque background.

PNG for transparency and sharp edges

PNG supports transparent backgrounds and is useful when the collage includes text, borders, logos or graphic elements.

WebP where supported

WebP can create compact photographic output while retaining transparency, but browser encoding support can vary.

High-resolution export

Two-times export doubles both dimensions and multiplies the total pixel workload by four, so large A4 or custom projects may require one-times resolution.

Private browser-based photo collage creation

Photos stay in the current editor

The page reads and decodes selected photos locally and does not send image files to a page-specific server conversion endpoint.

Temporary resources are released

Image references are released when photos are cleared, the tool is reset or the page is closed. Download references are revoked after export.

Saved preferences exclude photos

Layout and export preferences may be remembered, but filenames, image data, thumbnails, title text and rendered collages are not saved by the tool.

New output normally excludes metadata

The collage is newly rendered and encoded, so camera location data and most original image metadata are normally absent from the downloaded file.

Photo collage limitations and troubleshooting

A photo is cropped incorrectly

Select its cell, reduce zoom, drag the focal position or change Cover to Contain.

Some photos are hidden

The selected fixed template has fewer cells than active photos. Use Automatic Grid, Custom Grid or reorder the list.

A large phone photo fails to load

Export a smaller standard JPG, PNG or WebP copy, close other memory-heavy tabs and add it again.

High-resolution export fails

Choose one-times resolution, reduce canvas dimensions or use fewer large source images.

Transparent areas become opaque

Choose PNG or WebP with transparent background. JPG always uses the selected solid background colour.

The title does not fit

Shorten the title, reduce its size or use a taller canvas. The renderer reduces oversized text but does not create multiple title lines.

Frequently asked questions about making photo collages

Answers about picture grids, mosaic templates, phone photos, crop modes, social sizes, transparent backgrounds, high-resolution output, privacy and browser limits.

What does this photo collage maker do?

It combines multiple PNG, JPG or WebP images into a customizable picture grid or mosaic. You can reorder photos, choose a layout, crop each image, adjust spacing and background, add optional title text and export one finished collage image.

How many photos can I add to one collage?

The editor accepts up to 20 active photos. Automatic and custom grid layouts can display all active photos, while fixed mosaic templates display their stated number of cells.

Which image formats can I upload?

The tool accepts genuine PNG, JPEG and WebP files. It checks the file signature before decoding and rejects unsupported, empty or unreadable files.

Can I make a collage from photos on my phone?

Yes. Use the device file picker to choose photos, then edit the layout and crop controls in the mobile interface. Very large camera images can require substantial browser memory.

Can I drag and drop multiple photos?

Yes on devices and browsers that support file dragging. You can also choose several photos through the file picker.

Can I change the order of the photos?

Yes. Drag photo cards to reorder them or use the Move Up and Move Down buttons. The first photo fills the first layout cell, followed by the remaining photos.

Can I remove or replace one photo?

Yes. Remove a photo from its card and add another file at any time. Undo can restore recently removed photos while they remain in the current editing session.

What is the automatic grid layout?

Automatic Grid calculates a balanced number of rows and columns from the photo count and canvas aspect ratio, allowing every active photo to appear.

Can I create my own rows and columns?

Yes. Choose Custom Grid and set one to six rows and one to six columns. The grid displays up to the number of cells created by those settings.

What happens when a fixed layout has fewer cells than my photos?

Only the first photos that fit the template are visible. The quality check reports the hidden count so you can switch to Automatic Grid, increase the custom grid or reorder the list.

Can I create a square Instagram-style collage?

Yes. Choose the 1080 by 1080 square preset or enter custom square dimensions, then select a grid or mosaic layout.

Can I create a vertical Story collage?

Yes. Choose the 1080 by 1920 Story preset for a vertical 9:16 canvas suitable for full-screen social images.

Can I create a landscape or presentation collage?

Yes. Presets include 1200 by 675 landscape and 1920 by 1080 presentation dimensions, plus custom width and height.

What is the difference between Cover, Contain and Stretch?

Cover fills a cell while preserving the photo ratio and may crop edges. Contain keeps the complete photo visible and may leave background space. Stretch fills the cell exactly but can distort the image.

Can I move the crop directly on the collage preview?

Yes. Click a visible photo cell to select it, then drag inside that cell to change the focal position. Keyboard users can focus the canvas and use arrow keys, with Shift for larger steps.

Can I zoom, rotate or flip an individual photo?

Yes. Each photo has independent zoom, horizontal and vertical focal position, rotation, horizontal flip and vertical flip controls.

Can I adjust brightness, contrast or colour?

Yes. The selected photo includes brightness, contrast, saturation and grayscale controls. These adjustments affect only that photo inside the collage.

Can I add rounded corners and borders?

Yes. Set a global corner radius, cell border width and border colour. Rounded clipping and borders are applied consistently to every visible cell.

Can I change the gap and outer margin?

Yes. Gap controls the space between photo cells, while outer margin controls the space between the collage content and canvas edges.

Can I use a transparent collage background?

Yes when exporting PNG or supported WebP. JPG does not support transparency, so the chosen background colour is used for JPG output.

Can I add a title to the photo collage?

Yes. Add an optional title and subtitle above or below the grid, then adjust the text size, text colour, band colour and band opacity.

Which download formats are supported?

PNG and JPG are available. WebP appears when the current browser confirms that it can encode a WebP image from the collage canvas.

Which format is best for a photo collage?

JPG is usually compact for photographic collages. PNG is useful for transparency and sharp graphic edges. WebP can provide an efficient size-quality balance when supported.

Can I export a high-resolution collage?

Yes. Choose one-times or two-times export resolution. The tool prevents canvas dimensions or total pixels that are likely to exceed practical browser memory limits.

Why does an exported collage look soft?

A source photo may be smaller than its assigned cell or heavily zoomed. Use higher-resolution photos, reduce zoom, choose smaller output dimensions or avoid enlarging a small source.

Does the tool upload my photos?

No page-specific upload or processing endpoint receives the selected photos. Decoding, layout, rendering and export occur in the current browser session.

Does the tool save my photos?

No. Photo files, thumbnails and collage content are not stored by the tool. Only non-content preferences such as layout, spacing and export choices may be remembered.

Does collage export preserve camera metadata?

The finished collage is newly rendered and encoded, so original camera metadata such as location and most EXIF fields is normally not included.

Which browsers are supported?

Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari releases support the core file, canvas and download workflow. WebP encoding and image clipboard support can vary.

Why did one of my images fail to load?

The file may be empty, corrupted, unsupported, unusually large or mislabeled. Try exporting it as a standard PNG, JPG or WebP and add it again.

Why can a very large collage fail to export?

Browsers limit available memory and canvas dimensions. Reduce the output size, use one-times resolution, remove some large photos or close other memory-intensive tabs.

How do I reset the photo collage maker?

Choose Reset Tool to clear all photos, release temporary image resources and restore the default layout, canvas, photo-editing and export settings.
