Quality presets

Custom compression strength

Target size in MB

Troubleshooting video compression

Most failures are caused by damaged input, unavailable processing assets, limited device memory, an unsupported codec inside the container or settings that are too demanding for the device.

The video is selected but no preview appears

The browser may not natively decode that container or codec. If the file signature is recognized, you can still try compression. For the most predictable preview and output workflow, MP4/H.264 sources are widely supported.

Compression stops or the tab becomes unresponsive

Cancel if possible, then try a shorter trim range, smaller resolution, lower frame rate or another device with more memory. Browser-side encoding can consume substantial RAM for long or high-resolution videos.

The compressed file is not much smaller

Already-efficient sources can resist further reduction. Try Strong or Extreme, reduce resolution, lower frame rate, lower audio bitrate, mute audio, or choose a higher Custom strength.

The target-size result is slightly above the requested MB

Container overhead and variable video complexity make exact one-pass sizing difficult. The tool can automatically make one corrective bitrate pass when the first result is clearly over target, but the final value is still approximate.

The processing components do not load

Check your connection, content blocker, private browsing restrictions or network policy, then retry. The fast media toolkit is loaded only after you start compression. The heavier compatibility encoder is loaded only when the browser-native path cannot process the source.

The output video has no sound

Confirm Audio is not set to Mute video. Some unusual source audio codecs or malformed tracks may fail to decode; in that case try a different source container or re-export the original video first.
