Converting to a lossless format like PNG or TIFF keeps full quality. Converting to JPG, WEBP or AVIF uses a quality slider you control - higher settings keep more detail at a larger file size. GIF output is limited to 256 colors, which is a property of the GIF format itself.
It can produce a valid .svg file by embedding the converted raster image inside an SVG wrapper, which works anywhere an SVG is expected. This is not the same as true vectorization/tracing into editable vector shapes - genuine photo-to-vector tracing is a different, much more involved process that this tool does not perform.
