How to use the online notepad
Simple writing with useful controls
This browser notepad keeps the writing area first and the secondary controls compact. It is designed for quick notes, drafts, lists, snippets, meeting notes and temporary text without turning a simple notepad into a complicated document editor.
Copy, TXT and PDF workflow
Copy sends the full note to the clipboard when browser permissions allow it. Download TXT creates a UTF-8 plain-text file with the required correctioncopy.com_ filename prefix. TXT intentionally removes visual styling, while Print / Save PDF opens a clean print document that preserves supported bold and italic formatting without printing the CorrectionCopy navigation or tool interface.
The PDF flow intentionally uses the browser print system rather than pretending that a print dialog is a direct file download. Page size, margins, headers and the final saved filename can vary with browser and operating-system print settings.
Autosave, privacy and browser storage
The page stores the draft text and supported bold/italic formatting in browser local storage so it can survive normal refreshes and later visits on the same browser profile. That storage is device- and browser-specific, and clearing site data can remove it. For anything important, export a separate TXT or PDF copy rather than treating browser storage as a permanent backup.
Troubleshooting common notepad issues
Frequently asked questions
Does this online notepad autosave my notes?
Yes. The note title and text are saved to this browser after you type. The saved draft is restored when you revisit the page on the same browser profile, unless the site data has been cleared.
Where is my note stored?
The draft is stored in browser local storage on the current device. The notepad itself does not send your note text to a note-storage service.
Will my note survive a refresh or closed tab?
Normally yes. A saved draft is restored after a refresh, closed tab or browser restart when the same browser storage remains available.
What happens if I clear browser site data?
Clearing site data or local storage can remove the saved draft. Download important notes as TXT or save a PDF copy before clearing browser data.
Can I download the note as a TXT file?
Yes. Download TXT creates a UTF-8 plain-text file whose filename begins with correctioncopy.com_ and uses your note title when available.
How do I save the note as PDF?
Use Print / Save PDF. The tool opens a clean print view, then your browser print dialog can save that view as a PDF. Browser print options and the final PDF filename can vary by device.
Do Bold and Italic format the selected text?
Yes. Select text and press Bold or Italic to apply visible rich-text formatting inside the notepad. TXT downloads remain plain text, while the print view keeps supported bold and italic formatting.
Can I find and replace text inside a long note?
Yes. Open Find & Replace to locate the next match, replace the selected match, or replace all literal matches. A Match case option is included.
Does the notepad work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The editor, toolbar, counters and export controls use a responsive one-column layout on narrow screens and touch-friendly controls.
Is there a small artificial character limit?
No small artificial writing limit is imposed by the tool. Very large notes can eventually be limited by the browser memory or local-storage capacity available on the device.
Can I sync the same note across devices?
Not with this local draft. Browser storage belongs to the current browser profile and device, so use TXT or PDF export when you need to move a note elsewhere.
Will bold and italic formatting be kept in a TXT download?
No. TXT is a plain-text format, so visual bold and italic styling is removed. Use Print / Save PDF when you need the supported rich-text appearance preserved.
Can I use a dark writing surface?
Yes. Dark Editor changes only the writing surface, while the site-wide light or dark appearance remains controlled by the CorrectionCopy theme switch in the shared header.
