BMR is an estimate of the energy your body uses at rest for essential functions. Prediction equations cannot replace a measured resting-energy test.
TDEE is an estimate of total daily energy expenditure. This page multiplies the selected resting-energy estimate by an activity factor chosen by the user.
The default is the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. You can also select the revised Harris–Benedict equation, Katch–McArdle when body-fat data is available, or compare all available estimates.
Each equation was developed from a different study population and mathematical model. Personal metabolism, body composition, health and measurement error can create additional differences.
The published equations use male and female coefficients. Select the coefficient set that is appropriate for your physiological calculation; this input does not define gender identity.
The calculator is designed for adults aged 18 and older. Children and teenagers require age-specific growth and nutrition assessment.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding change energy needs in ways these general adult equations do not model. Use professional or official maternal-nutrition guidance instead.
The selected activity factor multiplies the resting-energy estimate. Activity factors are broad planning shortcuts and can overestimate or underestimate an individual week.
Choose the level that best describes an average week, including work, daily movement and exercise. When uncertain, start conservatively and compare the estimate with real weight trends over time.
It allows an experienced user to replace the preset activity factor with a value between 1.0 and 2.5. It should be treated as an estimate rather than a measured energy expenditure.
The page applies the selected percentage reduction to estimated TDEE. It does not predict an exact rate of weight change because real energy balance adapts over time.

Circumference and BMI methods use different inputs and assumptions. Showing them separately helps users see uncertainty instead of presenting one estimate as an exact measurement.
Use a flexible tape on bare skin or light clothing, keep it level and avoid pulling it tight. Repeat the measurement under similar conditions for better consistency.
Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. For the hip measurement, use the widest part of the buttocks. Follow one repeatable technique rather than changing locations between checks.
Yes. A known value can be entered for lean-mass calculations and the Katch–McArdle equation. The quality of the result depends on the quality and recency of that measurement.
Lean body mass is estimated body weight minus estimated fat mass. It includes muscle, bone, organs, water and other non-fat tissue.
BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It is a screening measure and does not directly measure body fat or health.
Yes. BMI and circumference equations can be less representative for some muscular athletes, bodybuilders, older adults and people with unusual fat distribution.
Macro targets convert the selected calorie goal into grams of protein, carbohydrate and fat using percentages chosen by the user. They are planning numbers, not medical prescriptions.
The three percentages divide the full calorie target. Protein and carbohydrate are calculated at four calories per gram, while fat is calculated at nine calories per gram.
