The correct formula is the one currently published by the institution. JAMB guidance allows institutions to rank candidates using UTME, institutional screening, SSCE grades and other applicable assessments, with the UTME portion ranging from 50% to 100%.
JAMB contribution: score ÷ 8. O’Level contribution: five grade points ÷ 30 × 50. The two contributions form a score out of 100.
Normalize each score to a percentage, multiply it by its assigned weight, then add the JAMB, O’Level and screening contributions.
Subtract the confirmed target from the calculated aggregate. A positive difference means the score is numerically above that target, not that admission is guaranteed.
The default six-point scale follows the historical published 50/50 scoring example. Institutions may use another scale or use O’Level grades only for eligibility.

JAMB’s 2026 Policy Meeting published national minimum tolerable scores. These are floors, not automatic programme cut-offs, and an institution may set a higher approved score.

A mathematically correct aggregate can still be unusable when the wrong subject combination, sitting rule, examination body, admission year, programme formula or cut-off is selected.
Check JAMB’s eligibility resources and the institution’s programme notice for compulsory O’Level and UTME subjects.
Do not assume a formula from a previous year, another programme or an unofficial blog still applies.
Admission may also depend on programme quota, merit ranking, catchment, institutional policy and approved admission processing.

A JAMB aggregate score is an institution-specific admission score that may combine the UTME result with O’Level grades, screening, Post-UTME, interview or other approved assessments.
No. Institutions may use different approved weightings and assessments. Always confirm the current formula published by the institution and programme.
It converts JAMB to 50 points by dividing the UTME score by eight and converts five O’Level grades to 50 points using A1 equals 6 through C6 equals 1.
The preset is based on a historical University of Ibadan scoring notice and is provided as a transparent calculation example, not as a claim about the university’s current admission method.
The UTME score is divided by eight, so a score of 400 contributes 50 points and a score of 240 contributes 30 points.
The default scale gives A1 six points, B2 five, B3 four, C4 three, C5 two, C6 one, and D7, E8 or F9 zero.
The selected grade points are added, divided by the maximum available points for the counted subjects, and multiplied by the assigned O’Level weight.
You may enter equivalent O’Level grades when your institution accepts that examination body. The calculator does not determine examination eligibility.
Most admission calculations use five relevant subjects, but requirements vary. The tool starts with five rows and allows up to nine so you can follow the institution’s instructions.
The result summary treats A1 through C6 as credit grades. Your programme may require specific credit subjects such as English Language, Mathematics or sciences.
Yes. You can mark each subject as first or second sitting and optionally apply the historical half-point treatment to second-sitting grades. This is not a universal rule.
Custom mode lets you set the percentage weight for JAMB, O’Level and optional screening while keeping the total at 100.
JAMB admission guidance states that the percentage allotted to UTME should range from 50 to 100 percent where institutions combine assessments.
