How to create a fillable PDF online

  1. Choose an existing PDF, or select Start with Blank Page and choose the page size, orientation and page count.
  2. Select a field type and drag over the exact area where the answer belongs. A quick tap places a sensible default-size field.
  3. Select each field to set its name, required state, default value and choices. Radio buttons with the same field name become one choice group.
  4. Move through every page, review the field list, then choose Create Fillable PDF.
  5. Open the generated file to test it, then download the verified interactive PDF.

PDF form creator for applications, intake forms and surveys

A static PDF often already has the right visual layout but no places to type. You can also start from a blank PDF when you need a clean form canvas. This tool turns that layout into a fillable PDF by adding interactive controls over the existing pages. It is useful for registration forms, HR documents, client intake sheets, checklists, questionnaires, request forms, inspection forms and other documents that need structured answers without rebuilding the original design.

Scanned pages are allowed for manual placement. The page can be an image-only scan because form fields are added over the page. Automatic OCR or automatic field detection is intentionally not required for this workflow.

Compatibility, privacy and important limitations

Frequently asked questions

What does this fillable PDF creator do?

It adds new interactive form fields to an existing PDF. You can place text fields, multiline text areas, checkboxes, dropdown menus and radio buttons directly on PDF pages, then export a new PDF that keeps those fields fillable.

Does the tool create real PDF form fields or just draw boxes?

The exported file contains standard interactive AcroForm fields rather than decorative boxes. Compatible PDF readers can focus, type into, select and change those fields after download.

Can I add fields to a scanned PDF?

Yes. You can manually place fields over a scanned PDF page because the background page does not need OCR for field placement. The tool does not automatically recognize printed labels or handwriting.

Which field types can I add?

This version supports single-line text fields, multiline text fields, checkboxes, dropdown menus and radio-button groups. It does not create certificate-backed digital signature fields, calculation scripts or submit-to-server actions.

Can I create fields on multiple PDF pages?

Yes. Use the page controls to move through the document and add fields on any page. The field list keeps all newly placed controls together and lets you jump back to a selected field.

Can I make fields required?

Yes. Each field can be marked required. PDF readers that honor the standard required-field flag can use that information when a form is submitted or validated.

Can I set dropdown choices and radio-button options?

Yes. Dropdown choices are entered one per line. Radio buttons use a shared group name and a unique option value for each button in that group.

Will existing fillable fields in my PDF be preserved?

Standard existing AcroForm fields are left in the document. New field names must not conflict with existing field names. Adobe-specific scripts, dynamic XFA behavior and unusual proprietary form features may not behave the same after modification.

Is my PDF uploaded to CorrectionCopy?

The form-authoring workflow processes the PDF in your browser. The document contents are not sent to a PDF conversion endpoint. Your browser still downloads the page code and required processing libraries in the normal way.

Does the creator work with password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are not supported for field creation in this browser workflow. Unlock the document first, then create the fillable form from the unlocked copy.

What happens to an existing digital signature?

Adding form fields changes the PDF file. Existing cryptographic signatures may become invalid because the signed document bytes have changed. Use an unsigned source when possible and sign the finished form afterward.

Why can a form look slightly different in another PDF reader?

PDF readers do not render interactive form widgets identically. Field values and standard form behavior usually transfer, but borders, fonts, focus effects and validation behavior can vary by viewer.

Can I fill the form after I create it?

Yes. Open the downloaded PDF in a PDF reader that supports interactive forms, or use CorrectionCopy’s Fill PDF Form tool to complete compatible existing fields.

Can I create a fillable PDF from a blank page?

Yes. Choose Start with Blank Page, select a standard page size, orientation and number of pages, then place the same interactive text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns and radio buttons on the blank document.

Does this tool work on phones and tablets?

Yes. The interface is responsive and supports touch placement, movement and resizing. A larger screen is still more comfortable for precise multi-page form design.
