How to convert JPG, PNG, TIFF or HEIC to WebP

  1. Drag files into the upload area or select multiple images at once. Choose Add more to append images.
  2. Adjust the small WebP quality slider or open More settings for a preset and transparency options.
  3. Click Convert. Converted files appear in order with their real original and WebP sizes.
  4. Download files individually, or use Download all ZIP. Optionally expand Reduce WebP size further to try more compression.

Free browser-based WebP converter for websites and everyday use

Convert JPG to WebP, JPEG to WebP, PNG to WebP, TIFF to WebP, HEIC to WebP, BMP to WebP and supported AVIF images to WebP. The files stay in your browser during conversion. WebP can help lower website image weight, but some already-compressed sources may get larger. Actual byte savings appear in the results instead of an invented reduction estimate.

Images keep their decoded dimensions and aspect ratio, and supported transparent backgrounds remain transparent when that option is selected. Animated GIF, AVIF and WebP inputs produce a still frame. HEIC, HEIF and TIFF depend on browser-side decoders; if a particular file cannot be decoded, try converting the original to PNG first.

Why use WebP for images?

WebP files can load efficiently on websites, blogs and online shops. The converter lets you compare real file sizes, preserve a readable filename, optimize after conversion and download one file or a ZIP archive. Your uploaded images are handled in the browser, rather than being submitted to a server-side converter.

The optional optimizer makes another lossy WebP encoding attempt at the chosen quality and keeps the existing file if the attempt is larger. It is not guaranteed to be mathematically lossless or to improve every source.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can I convert to WebP?

Supported JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, BMP, GIF, AVIF, SVG and WebP images can be converted. Certain TIFF and HEIC files need compatible browser-side decoders; animated formats use a still frame.

Where can I drag and drop image files?

Drag files over the converter box to display its drop area, then release to add them. You can also select images with Choose images at any time.

Can I convert several images together?

Yes. Select multiple images or add several batches. Files appear in selection order. Convert generates individual WebP results.

How can I download only one WebP file?

Select the Download WebP control beside the corresponding converted image. The Download all ZIP button packs all finished images together.

Does conversion preserve image dimensions and proportions?

Yes. Each decoded image keeps its original width and height, and previews use its natural aspect ratio without cropping.

Are files uploaded to CorrectionCopy for processing?

No. Images are decoded and encoded in your browser. Optional image-format helpers may be downloaded from a CDN when required.

Can I reduce WebP size after conversion?

Yes. Expand Reduce WebP size further. It tests another quality setting and only replaces the output if the new file is smaller. Lower quality can affect detail.

Will WebP always be smaller than JPG or PNG?

No. Savings depend on the original file, image content and WebP quality. The tool displays actual size changes.

Can transparent PNG images remain transparent?

Yes, when Preserve transparency is enabled and your browser can decode the alpha channel. You may instead flatten transparency onto white in More settings.

Is registration needed for batch conversion?

No. Guests can close the one-time invitation after selecting three or more files and continue converting free of charge.

What happens to animated images?

The converter produces a single still WebP image rather than preserving animation.

What if a TIFF, HEIC, or AVIF image fails?

These formats can use browser-dependent or decoder-dependent features. Try an updated browser or export the original image as PNG or JPEG before converting.
